Our president Paul Wilson, was the founding chairperson of the first home inspection association in Ontario back in 1980 and fought very hard to ensure that Ottawa consumers were protected by creating standards of practice and a code of ethics for its membership to follow. A lot has happened to the home inspection in Ottawa since then. Consumers need to exercise caution when selecting a home inspector as the profession still remains totally unregulated in Ontario today. While we fully support the idea of mandatory licensing of home inspectors across the province, it's still a ways off yet.
We have endeavoured to provide the best home inspection service possible since our inception in 1980. Years of experience and now over 23,000 inspections completed, we feel we have the process nearly perfected. Lots of home inspection companies in Ottawa claim they have 20-30 years of experience but very few were actually in the home inspection business in Ottawa in the 80's and 90's, so chances are their experience is not primarily in home inspection. When we started back in 1980 there were only 4 inspection companies in Ottawa and at that time our President formed the first home inspection association in Ontario. The majority of home inspectors in the city have only been conducting full time home inspections for less than 10 years, many only for 5 years or less. We can guarantee you that no other inspection firm in Ottawa has the same amount of home inspection experience or expertise as HOME INSPECTORS.
